I am available for hire, specifically on app development for either iOS or Android (or both with a cross-platform project).
I am also available for commissioned artwork. Contact me if you'd like to talk more.
Having been a software developer for over 20 years, briefs are the most important aspect to ensuring that a project meets its goals efficiently and in a timely manner. In my experience it's rare for a client to have a detailed brief or specification ready, and may only have a macro view of a project without having the details filled in.
Of course if you already have a brief that you believe encapsulates everything you want to achieve from a project I'm happy to work from that. However I can provide consultancy during this phase to ensure the brief and specification meet your goals.
With app development I can provide both iOS and Android solutions. Using a cross-platform development system I can develop once and distribute to both sets of devices.
I am happy to work with external design. I can help and advise during the production process. This gives the designer or artist the ability to produce imagery that can be used with the least fuss. Of course I can also provide design services as part of the project. Please see my Art page for an idea of the scope of my styles.
Finally, should an app require it, I can also produce music. I have a professional music production setup, based around the industry standard sequencer Cubase.
It's the proverbial "how long is a piece of string" question, I'm afraid. I approach each project individually and, in conjunction with the client, tailor the services required to the needs and budget of the project. I generally always prefer to provide a fixed cost for a project. This ensures that there's clarity in the relationship. As long as the brief and/or specification is well drafted, this gives you certainty of the finished cost. However, should the goals change during development, this can impact on the final cost.
I am more than happy to attend meetings both before and during projects. Often on larger, more creative projects meeting face to face leads to a better flow of ideas and a much better finished product. Depending on the distance, travel expenses may be required.
In January I started work on a large app project for Cats Protection, a large UK charity.
I'm eager to get going on 2013 and thought I'd let you all know what's currently on the agenda.
I recently created a game prototype for animation outfit Bird Box Studio based in London.
I've recently been asked by a couple of potential clients about doing some test development for them on apps, prototyping as a first stage to a more involved project. So what is prototyping and what are the benefits?
